National Collections

Until 5th April 1994, the museum’s national collections of stamps from Canada (1851-1987). Eritrea (1893-1951), Samoa (1877-1991), and Spanish Morocco (1903-1958) will be on display. The Danish Post and Telegraph Museum is probably the only existing general collector in Denmark of stamps from all over the world at all times.

Unusual Collection

Until 5th April, the museum will be showing a special collection of unaddressed Danish mail with stamps guaranteeing delivery – i.e. advertisements which were door-to-door distributed by postmen during the years 1931-1992.

Provisional Stamps

The museum commemorates the 75th anniversary of the emission of provisional stamps on the Faroe Islands in January 1919. This is done by an exhibition to and incl. 26th of June.

Philately of the Faroe Islands

The major part of L.D. Hansen’s special collection which belongs to the museum is now on display. L.D. Hansen was employed in the Post and Telegraph Service and discharged his duties on the Faroe Islands during both world wars. His collection comprises most aspects of Faroe philately until the mid 1960’s and contains among other things some mail items with 4 øre stamps cut into halves and 2 øre provisionals.

The stamps of Norway (1855-1992) are likewise on display now and until 26th June 1994.

Hungary and Iceland

During the period from 7th April to and including 26th June 1994 you can scrutinize a selection of Hungarian stamps.

Iceland has been issuing their own stamps since 1873. To and including 1937 most Icelandic stamps were printed in Denmark, and the Post & Telegraph Museum keeps a considerable amount of workshop drawings, proofs, and entire sheets. A choice of the collection is showed at the same time as the Hungarian stamps.

Europa Stamps

Likewise from 7th April, but to and incl. 2nd October 1994 the 35th anniversary of CEPT is commemorated by an exhibition of a wide selection of the so-called Europa stamps. Denmark became a member of CEPT (The European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations) at the foundation in 1959, and the organization comprises today all Western European and a few Eastern European countries.
