Won’t you come in?
The elegant entrance hall behind the gate with the fine monogram of the State Telegraph is all Swedish tiles, stucco, and pendants. But make no mistake about it, because already here you find the first lift in the house: Young and old, on wheels and weary legs or not, we would very much like to welcome in the new museum in one of the longest and busiest pedestrian streets in the world.
The original roof has been removed from the old peristyle of the building and all along the roof edge fifteen historical figures are welcoming the visitors. They are actors in the 400 years old history of communication from the founder of the postal service King Christian the 4th to the present-days computer nerd.
In the peristyle you can rest on Nanna Ditzel’s "kissing benches" and form a general view of the possibilities: shop, museum, and café.
Tickets for the museum are available in the museum shop where you can also just go shopping. Many different sorts of articles are exhibited in a fine, old interior from Tybing’s Stamp Sales which was originally situated in Copenhagen from 1879 to 1967. The shop also contains the sale of Post Denmark Stamps.
The entire old yard are now covered with glass at a level of eleven metres. Through the large room a lift in its glass shaft brings the visitors to the different floors of the museum. In the anteroom of the elevator you can store your luggage in lockers.
